The Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB), marked a significant milestone in its journey towards excellence with an interactive session held on July 4, 2025. The event, attended by Staff, Students, Stakeholders, and the entire FCAIB community, was a testament to the college’s commitment to collaboration and progress.
In his welcome address, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu, the Provost of FCAIB, expressed his commitment to working with the Alumni and the entire FCAIB community. He emphasized the importance of maximum cooperation and partnership in driving the college’s progress internally and globally. Prof.Atungwu also stressed that absenteeism and indiscipline would not be tolerated, and everyone was expected to do their due diligence.
The Provost highlighted the college’s ongoing collaborations with other institutions, including the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, O.A.U, and the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Moor Plantation, Ibadan.
These partnerships aim to enhance the college’s academic and research capabilities.
The unveiling of the master plan and framework for the proposed structure and ongoing repairs was a highlight of the session. Engr. Dr. Titus A. Ilori, the Dean of the School of Engineering Technology, provided insights into the plan’s sustainability and strategic goals.
Distinguished guests, including Prof. G.A. Oluwatosin, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, and Dr. Adekoya Olatunde Owosibo, Provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, shared valuable perspectives on modernizing agriculture and enhancing student employability. Prof. G. A. Oluwatosin, advised FCAIB to invest in modern and mechanized agriculture, increase farming areas, and ensure students are well-trained and employable in modern agriculture.
Dr. Adekoya Olatunde Owosibo, praised Prof. Atungwu’s leadership. They both expressed their willingness to work with FCAIB to improve the campus.
Union leaders from NASU, SSAUTHRIAI, ASUP, and ASUCA expressed their appreciation for Prof. Atungwu’s leadership and assured him of a peaceful working relationship. The students also had an opportunity to express themselves, with the Student Union leader, The Student’s Speaker, and ALUTA participating in the interactive session and the representative of the Private Sector of the FCAIB community was also present in person of Pham. Afolabi, highlighting the college’s commitment to stakeholder engagement.
The interactive session was a resounding success, demonstrating FCAIB’s determination to push boundaries and achieve excellence.
With its sights set on the future, FCAIB is poised to become a leading institution in agricultural education and research in Nigeria and beyond.
