The General Studies Department of the College had its accreditation and was formally established in 2014 to effectively function and discharge its responsibilities as mandated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) which is to integrate General Studies into the curriculum of tertiary institutions to broaden the intellectual horizons of the students. At the core of responsibility of the department are exposing all students regardless of their area of specialisation to various subjects to help them to be physically fit, communicate effectively and apply acquired knowledge that would enhance their functioning in their sociocultural environment. The courses taught in General Studies are mandated by the NBTE and must be passed as a prerequisite for graduation. Students are expected to take all the modules in the Use of and Communication in English, Contemporary Social Problems, Physical and Health Education, Citizenship and Mathematics.
Mr Anthony Oluwasegun Omoyajowo is the incumbent Head of Department. He has a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Ado-Ekiti and a master’s degree in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the University of Lagos. He has another master’s degree in Industrial Sociology from the University of Ibadan. He is a chartered member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and other professional bodies.
