It is my pleasure to welcome you to the official webpage of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, the first Agricultural (academic) Institution in Nigeria.
The College is dutifully committed to her mandate of producing diplomates at both National and Higher National Diploma levels with high academic standard and sound practical skills to meet the demands of the agricultural sector of Nigerian economy. Our diplomates are trained to be self-sufficient and to also provide middle level technological manpower needs to farmers, agro-allied industries, agricultural institutions and government agencies. They are equally trained to serve as extension agents in Federal and States’ Ministries of Agriculture and related sectors.
With this, we are playing pivotal roles in actualizing the visions of the Federal and State governments in transforming the agricultural sector of Nigerian economy. The mandate of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to ensure food security in crops, livestock and fisheries, to stimulate agricultural employment and services, as well as the agricultural transformation agenda of the President (Return to Land Initiative) are in close-knit. To this, the College is contributing through four (5) strategic and accelerated repositioning steps: training (academic and vocational), agricultural production, research and development, fabrication of farm input equipment, as well as the execution of staff, students and community welfare projects.
The College has successfully trained over 5000 participants in our yearly vocational training, most of whom are already contributing to poverty alleviation through job creation. We are involved in several entrepreneurial/skill acquisition training and consultancy services, aimed at transforming our immediate environment and the country at large to a rapid-growing economic hub through agricultural practices.
As the College continues to deliver the very best in all areas of agricultural innovations, we encourage aspiring students, entrepreneurs and the general public to get involved, share and contribute to moving the College forward by cutting a niche in academic standardization. This will also aid in improving on staff and students’ development to produce middle level manpower for rapid agricultural and economic development at National, as well as International levels. Achieving these will consequently play a pivotal role at ensuring food security and poverty eradication in Nigeria.
I therefore welcome you to update and acquaint yourself with the potentials, events and operational activities of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, through our official webpage. Together (with God on our side), we shall transform Nigeria through Agriculture.
