The HLT is one of the programmes taught at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan. It was formally accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in 2012. The first set of students for the programme were admitted in the 2012/ 2013 academic session. In line with the mandate of the NBTE, the HLT “is designed to produce higher national horticultural technicians who will be adequately equipped to apply their knowledge to increased production of fruits and vegetable and able to apply their knowledge in landscape design techniques and development”.
The HND in HLT is a 4-semester programme. The entry requirements for admission into the HND programme in HLT by direct entry: (a) National Diploma with a credit pass in Agricultural Technology/Forestry. (b) A minimum of one-year Post-National Diploma cognate work experience.
The current Head of Department is Mrs Oyeyemi Olubusayo Oni. She has a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Agronomy and Agronomy (Horticulture) respectively.
