
FCAIB Flags Off 2026 Provost Cup with Exciting Opening Fixtures
The 2026 Provost Cup has kicked off at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, promoting sportsmanship, unity and healthy competition. Opening fixtures saw SETSA defeat ASAPTS 2–0, while SAMVOS edged NATSA 1–0.

The Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB), officially flagged off the 2026 edition of the Provost Cup, reaffirming its commitment to promoting sportsmanship, unity and physical well-being among staff and students.
Declaring the competition open on behalf of the Provost, Professor Jonathan J. Atungwu, the Director of Audit, Mr. Olakunle Karunwi, welcomed participants and spectators to the annual sporting event. He conveyed the Provost's goodwill to all competing teams and encouraged them to uphold the values of discipline, teamwork and fair play throughout the tournament. He then wished all participants injury free and successful competition.
In her welcome address, the Director of Sports, Mrs. Eyitayo Tewanger, expressed delight at the commencement of another edition of the Provost Cup. She welcomed members of staff, students and invited guests, describing the competition as an important platform for fostering unity, friendship and healthy rivalry within the College community. She urged all participating teams to compete with integrity while displaying the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Head of the Department of Animal Production, Mr. Stephen Olufemi Olaoye, members of the Sports Committee and students, all of whom gathered to witness the commencement of the tournament.
The opening day featured two exciting football fixtures. In the first match, SETSA secured a convincing 2–0 victory over ASAPTS to record the tournament's first win. The second match ended in a 1–0 victory for SAMVOS over NATSA, earning the team maximum points.
The successful commencement of the 2026 Provost Cup sets the stage for an exciting tournament, with more thrilling fixtures expected as staff and students continue to contest in the spirit of unity, excellence and healthy competition.
