The Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB), is currently conducting its 2026 Promotion Examination for eligible members of staff, with the two-day exercise scheduled to end today, Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The examination, which began on Monday, August 31, is being conducted in conjunction with the Appointments and Promotions Committee. The exercise is part of the College’s efforts to encourage career growth, recognise staff contributions and build a more capable workforce.

Speaking at the commencement of the examination, the Provost of the College, Professor Jonathan J. Atungwu, commended the candidates for their commitment and encouraged them to approach the exercise with confidence.

He assured the candidates that the process would be conducted fairly and in accordance with the approved rules and regulations of the College.

Professor Atungwu also stressed the importance of continuous staff development, noting that the growth of FCAIB depends largely on the quality, commitment and professionalism of its workforce. He encouraged staff members to continue acquiring relevant skills and qualifications that would enable them to perform better in their respective roles.

The Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) was represented by Mr. Abdul Lateef Adorere Aliu, accompanied by Mr. Ogunniyi Olalekan.

In his remarks, Mr. Aliu described the examination as an important part of the promotion process. He noted that completing the exercise would enable the College to proceed with the necessary documentation and forward it to the appropriate authorities.

He urged candidates to give their best and adhere to the requirements guiding promotion and career progression.

The interactive session also provided an opportunity for staff representatives to raise questions concerning qualifications, promotion and conversion. Representatives of the Committee explained that such processes must be guided by the approved Scheme of Service and the requirements for each cadre.

Management further encouraged staff members to familiarise themselves with the Scheme of Service and take the necessary steps towards meeting the qualifications required for career advancement.

The College also assured staff that appropriate channels would be available for anyone who may have concerns about the outcome of the exercise.

Beyond promotion, the ongoing examination is expected to have a wider impact on FCAIB by encouraging staff to improve their knowledge, skills and professional competence. A motivated workforce, Management noted, will ultimately translate into better productivity, improved service delivery and greater contribution to the College’s academic, administrative and institutional goals.

As the examination enters its final day, the exercise reflects the College’s continued commitment to recognising hard work, supporting career development and creating an environment where staff can grow and contribute effectively to the advancement of FCAIB.
